MPRLP works in remote villages in Dhar, Jhabua, Barwani, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Shahdol, Mandla, Dindori and Sheopur districts where there is a high proportion of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and where female literacy is poor. In Phase 1, MPRLP reached 815 villages, around 50,000 households in all. Phase 2 of MPRLP, which started in July 2007, reaches nearly 4,000 villages, including 822 villages reached in Phase 1.
